Our Approach
Florida's First Theme Park Destination
For more than 35 years before Walt brought his mouse to Orlando, Winter Haven was a world famous destination and home to Florida's first theme park.
It all started on January 2nd, 1936 when Dick and Julie Pope opened their meticulously manicured Cypress Gardens.
Soon the gardens and Winter Haven in general became known "The Water Ski Capital of the World".
With more than 50 lakes within or forming the boundaries of Winter Haven there is nautical adventure awaiting for all. From leisurely pontoon cruises to soaring high above the lakes on jets of water on a flyboard, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
For our landlubbers, Winter Haven offers plenty for you to do as well.
Hiking, biking, golf, tennis, shopping, art, music, theater, fine and casual dining are all available to fill your days and nights.
Of course the Pope's vision lives on at the botanical Cypress Gardens, located inside the Legoland Florida resort.
With Orlando and Tampa each being less than 50 miles away, Winter Haven really is Right in the Middle of it All!
Our Story
Our Story
Visit Winter Haven got it's start when entrepreneur Geoff Fox was working on a marketing campaign for a local amusement, and was appalled to find that all of the traditional tourism marketing in the area was focused on sending people to Orlando and Tampa.
Meet the Team
Write something about the people who make your business go or your philosophy behind customer service.
Why? Because people want to know who they're doing business with. It's a human thing.
